Here are five handy online resources for researching firearms rules and restrictions:

1. NRA-ILA is the Institute for Legislative Action, the lobbying arm of the National Rifle Association. According to its website, the ILA, established in 1975, “is committed to preserving the right of all law-abiding individuals to purchase, possess, and use firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.”

2. The Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence is a nonprofit organization founded by attorneys that focuses on the promotion of gun laws by offering legal advice in support of gun violence protection.

3. OpenCarry.org provides comprehensive, state-specific information on all aspects related to the legality of the open carry of firearms, including news, forums, and maps.
