By    |   Tuesday, 24 February 2015 01:49 PM EST

Ohio ranks 36th in a 2014 list of the best states for gun owners compiled by Guns and Ammo. "Ohio's self-defense law does not require a duty to retreat either inside or outside a citizen's home." The state received a score of 37 out of 50 based on right to carry laws, restrictions on sporting rifles, National Firearms Act rights, Castle Doctrine and a miscellaneous category.

Here are five spots for firearms and pistol practice in the state of Ohio:

1. Aimhi Shooting Range: Located in New Albany, this family firearms center, retail store and indoor shooting range has 12 state-of-the-art shooting lanes. The facility features computer-controlled targets and a modern air filtration system designed to ensure "lead dust and burnt powder move down and away from the shooter."

"I have been a member of Aimhi since last spring. I very much enjoy shooting there. My son, daughter, and I go often. The range facility is excellent and the air handlers really make a big difference in the overall experience," writes a reviewer on Google.

2. Point Blank Range & Gun Shop: This retail store, firearm academy and gun range has five convenient locations in Ohio. Firearms are available to rent and range specials include Lunchtime Shooting, Senior Day, Ladies Day, Police/Military Day and Date Night.

"Immaculate facility. Love going down and shooting. Very respectful and responsible staff. Extremely helpful and always willing to give tips and help when asked. Prices are great," writes a reviewer on Facebook.

3. Blackwing Shooting Center: Located in Delaware, this 5-star premier shooting facility and pro shop carries over 2000 new and used guns. Shooting opportunities include numerous pistol, rifle, shotgun, archery, trap and skeet ranges as well as a 3-bag, sight-in archery range. The Blackwing community is involved in special events with expert shooters from around the world as well as in house recreational shooting leagues.

"By far the best gun range/store I have ever visited. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, state of the art indoor and outdoor shooting facilities...five stars hands down," writes a reviewer on Facebook.

4. Select Fire Training Center: Located in Berea, this gun range has 10 electronically monitored bays, with four lanes that are "rifle-capable up to .308 caliber frangible ammunition." Extensive instruction is available from basic handgun and concealed carry to NRA personal protection and youth classes. SFTC believes "teaching our youth about the importance of firearms and firearm safety will preserve our amendment rights to bear arms for future generations as well as preserve the tradition and sport of shooting."

"Excellent range! Brand new inside. The staff is friendly and very helpful. There is always a range safety officer who is actually paying attention and willing to help. They also have a new simulator as well that is incredibly realistic," writes a reviewer on Yelp.

5. Miami Valley Shooting Grounds: Located in Vandalia, this facility offers an outdoor covered shooting range from 10m and 25 to 90 yards and a heated indoor range that supports "ammunition of all handgun calibers below the 41 magnum performance level." Instruction by NRA certified trainers in basic safety, hunting safety and Concealed Handgun Permit is available.

"This is an awesome range/facility. I've never used the indoor range, but the outdoor pistol and rifle ranges are fantastic," writes a reviewer on Google.
