President Donald Trump's plan to end Obamacare subsidies to health insurance companies will have deadly consequences, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said Friday.
The day after news of Trump's intention was made public, Schneiderman said New York and more than a dozen other states will sue the Trump administration to stop any actions that would halt the payments.
"People will suffer and people will die," Schneiderman said regarding Trump's reported plans, TalkingPointsMemo reported.
Schneiderman spoke at his Manhattan office and, according to the Albany Times Union, said Trump's decision is "unacceptable, it's cruel and it's unlawful."
"It's almost like saying there's an appropriation for the car, and the wheels come along with the car," he said.
In July, Trump called the subsidies government bailouts that he wanted to see end.
