House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady said Monday that the forthcoming Republican tax plan will include "the lowest rates on business in modern history."
The Texas Republican told CNBC that "Republicans are going to announce bold tax reform that grows jobs, grows paychecks and vaults America into the lead," though he did not provide any details on the plan, though the blueprint including specific rates is expected on Wednesday.
Brady, one of the "Big Six" of White House officials and legislators working on tax reform, told Fox News' "Your World" host Neil Cavuto last week, "we're determined to deliver the lowest rates on local businesses in modern history. And, going further, we're going to redesign the code so we can compete and win anywhere in the world, including here at home. So, I think you are going to be pleased."
He added that he'd be disappointed if the tax cuts were not across the board.
"It's incredibly important, I think, that we close loopholes, eliminate special provisions and lower tax rates on every American. It's very important for growth in the economy, but it's as important today for growth as it was when President [John F.] Kennedy and President [Ronald] Reagan, working in a bipartisan way, delivered those same type of tax relief provisions as well."
