Dems Urge Kushner, Ivanka Security Clearance Be Revoked

Democratic Reps. Ted Lieu of California and Don Beyer of Virginia are urging that security clearances for Jared Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump, be revoked, The Hill reports.

"Recent press investigations highlight severe credibility issues with Ivanka Trump, a White House official, close adviser, and daughter to the president," Lieu and Beyer said in a letter to White House counsel Don McGahn.

Politico had reported White House officials are looking into emails associated with a third and previously unreported email account on Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump's private domain.

The website said hundreds of emails have been sent since January from White House addresses to the account on the family domain.

And, according to the Hill, the lawmakers' letter also referred to a report by McClatchy that Kushner and his wife, who are senior advisers to President Donald Trump, had both been fined $200 for failing to meet required deadlines to submit financial reports.

"These new revelations, along with the ongoing White House probe of Ms. Trump's private email use, have compromised Ms. Trump's integrity and credibility," the lawmakers wrote.

"We are requesting that the White House immediately revoke her security clearance pending an investigation into her actions.”

And they added: "In light of the recent developments relating to both Mr. Kushner's e-mail accounts and his financial disclosure statements, we would like to reiterate our request that you immediately revoke his security clearance."
