NASA said Monday it will announce the discovery of new planets this week.

The space agency posted the news in a press release, and the announcement is scheduled for Wednesday at 1 p.m. Officials at the event will reveal "new findings on planets that orbit stars other than our sun, known as exoplanets."

No further details have been revealed.

The news comes after scientists announced they have found 60 new planets orbiting stars outside of our solar system. Scientists are calling one of those planets a "Super Earth."

The five dozen planets were discovered via the Keck Observatory in Hawaii.

Last summer, astronomers announced the discovery of an infant planet they named K2-33b that is between 5 million and 10 million years old — far younger than Earth, which is estimated to be about 4.5 billion years old.
