Billionaire real estate mogul Donald Trump, who says he is seriously considering a run for the presidency in 2016, blasted former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for his much-criticized statements on the Iraq War.
Bush’s answers regarding whether he would have handled the situation faced by his brother, former President George W. Bush, were nothing less than "incompetent, Trump said during his own swing through the Sunshine State on Thursday.
"He (Jeb Bush) can’t even answer a simple question," Trump said, the Sarasota Herald Tribune reported. Trump was in Sarasota to accept the "Statesman of the Year Award" from the local Republican Party.
"Oh, I think it has Bush fatigue," Trump added to reporters as he was going on stage. "I would say it has Bush fatigue."
Trump also criticized Bush for his support of the Common Core education curriculum and for his stances on immigration, which are very controversial among conservatives.
The paper pointed out that Trump was attacking Bush in what might be considered the Bush’s family’s backyard. They often spend part of the winter on Gasparilla Island near Sarasota. Both George W. Bush and Laura Bush have spoken to sold-out audiences in Sarasota during the past four years.
But Trump also made it clear that he isn’t excited by anybody in the steadily expanding Republican field.
There is only one candidate who can do get the country to the "promised land, Trump said.
"If I run and if I win, our country will be great again," he said.
