Twenty-seven graduating seniors at Republic High School in Washington State hit the proverbial jackpot on Saturday when they convinced tea-party heroine Sarah Palin to give their commencement address.

“The heart of America is good, small towns just like this one,” the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, told the capped-and-gowned students.
Addressing media jabs that she might be losing her luster by agreeing to the small gig, Palin shot back saying, “Small-town America is the soul of our country.”
As one graduate noted following Palin’s speech, “This is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Embrace it.”
