Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum says the policies of President Barack Obama have made the country worse off and that the road to repair runs through the GOP ticket of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.

“In these difficult economic times, we have two parties offering very different solutions to the challenges so many working families face,” Santorum writes in The Hill. “Obama’s economic policies are hurting families, whole communities and manufacturing, the sector of our economy that made America great.”

The antidote is Republican solutions, Santorum says. “We need to return to economic policies that promote growth and unleash the potential of our manufacturing workers and entrepreneurs,” he states. “By expanding freedom and limiting government excesses and regulations, ‘Made in America’ can be commonplace again.”

Obama’s agenda of “hope and change” represents an effort “to push us back into a culture of big government and dependency,” Santorum writes. “Rather than using the power of the presidency to honor and reinforce our founding principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, Obama’s ‘Great Society’ mentality is stifling America.”

Fortunately there is still time for a solution. “Our vision for America is different,” Santorum says. “Our vision for America is the heart of America. It’s passion for freedom. It’s passion for liberty. Give us life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in a virtuous society.”

And that’s where Romney and Ryan enter the picture. “We have one choice this November,” Santorum writes. “We either choose freedom or we choose an ObamaNation — a path to decline, a path to dependency. As for me and my house, we choose freedom. We choose Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.”
