The New York City Board of Health’s plans, spearheaded by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, D-N.Y., to place a ban on buttered popcorn and milk-based sugary drinks is proof that the Democrats want to control our every move and erode our freedom bit by bit, talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said.

The Democrats “don’t think we’re smart enough to make the decision on our own,” Limbaugh said Wednesday.

“It’s all about control.”

Limbaugh says that the Democrats are trying to pass these bans off as an attempt to appear as though they are concerned about Americans’ health. But, in reality, they are just trying to save themselves from overpaying on healthcare costs.

The Democrats probably figure that since they are “going to be paying for [our] healthcare,” Limbaugh said, “[they will] have to limit how much [they’re] going to pay.”

Their scientists can “do the research, tell us about it, [but] let us make the decision.”

This new ban proposal comes two weeks after a similar ban was proposed by the New York City Board of Health on over-sized sugary soft drinks.
