A pro-life group seeking a “heartbeat law” in Ohio has taken out a series of newspaper advertisements to pressure Republican state senators to enact a bill that would outlaw abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected.

The group, Faith 2 Action, says it’s challenging Republican lawmakers in their own home districts to prove they aren’t “RINO,” or Republicans in Name Only, reports the Dayton Daily News.

The group also plans to send postcards to thousands of registered GOP voters in nine of Ohio’s key districts, asking if their senator is a RINO.

“They ran as pro-lifers. It’s time to be true to their word,” said Janet Porter, head of Faith 2 Action.

The Republican-controlled state House has passed a heartbeat bill, but GOP Senate President Tom Niehaus has refused to bring it to a floor vote.

Niehaus, the Daily News reported, agrees with Ohio Right to Life that the bill would likely be ruled unconstitutional.
