Obama Designates Acting Secretary of State for Middle East

President Barack Obama has nominated Ambassador A. Elizabeth Jones to replace Jeffrey Feltman as the State Department’s acting Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced today.

Jones has served as the U.S. ambassador to Kazakhstan from 1995 to 1997. She has also served as assistant secretary for Europe and Eurasia.
