President Barack Obama is always on time when it comes to filling out his NCAA March Madness brackets, House Republicans point out in a new video, but he's never on time in submitting his budget proposal to Congress.
"Clutch with his brackets. Late with his budget," the YouTube video declares, as it shows him making his picks for the national basketball tournament.
The video pokes fun at him for saying he won't release his budget plan until early April, more than two months after the early February deadline.
In the video, Obama is pictured with a presidential bracket board, making his choices, while the clock ticks down to “zero days late” on filling out his tournament brackets.
Republicans also made fun of the president by promoting the Web video via Twitter. "March Madness" is "when the president takes his brackets more seriously than the national budget," Texas Rep. Pete Sessions tweeted.
The president, however, seems to take the criticism in stride. He even poked fun at himself earlier this month about the importance he places on choosing his bracket teams, according to the Huffington Post.
"We face major challenges. March in particular is going to be full of tough decisions," he told an audience at the Gridiron Club and Foundation Dinner in Washington.
"But I want to assure you, I have my top advisers working around the clock. After all, my March Madness bracket isn't going to fill itself out. And don't worry, there is an entire team in the Situation Room as we speak, planning my next golf outing, right now at this moment."
