David Keene and Wayne LaPierre, the president and executive vice president of the National Rifle Association, will make major addresses at the Conservative Political Action Conference next month.

“Both David and Wayne have spent a lifetime defending America’s freedoms, ensuring that future generations enjoy the same protections and rights we do today,’’ said Al Cardenas, chairman of the American Conservative Union.

The conference will be March 14-16 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md., according to The Right Sphere website.

LaPierre made waves this week in an opinion piece in the Daily Caller, a news and opinion website, writing about his concerns that gun prohibitionists are committed to taking away the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

“Tens of millions of Americans are already preparing to Stand And Fight to protect their families and homes. . .’’ he wrote, arguing against new control laws. “Hurricanes. Tornadoes. Riots. Terrorists. Gangs. Lone criminals. These are perils we are sure to face — not just maybe. It's not paranoia to buy a gun. It's survival.’’
