A pro-gun control group wants its supporters to bombard comedian Jeff Foxworthy and country singer Alan Jackson with tweets for their plans to open this year's National Rifle Association convention in April.
The group, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, posted a
Facebook message earlier this week, saying the entertainers need to be "educated" about their plans to open
the convention in Nashville, reports
The Daily Caller.
The group's post claims that the NRA pushes to "arm convicted criminals, blocked federal gun violence research and board members promoted armed insurrection” and the public should educate Foxworthy and Jackson about the NRA's “dangerous and irresponsible policies.”
The Facebook post takes followers to
the group's web page, where they have the option to pick and tweet one of several messages to the entertainers.
Neither Jackson nor Foxworthy has responded to the messages or the claims made by the Moms group, which is one of many supported financially by former Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The questions posed on Twitter are:
- Does Alan @OfficialJackson support #NRAExtremism by performing at NRA convention? NRA fights to arm terrorists #NRAAM
- Alan @OfficialJackson set to perform NRA convention. Meanwhile, #NRA fights background checks that save lives. #NRAAM
- Did @OfficialJackson know NRA fights to arm criminals when he agreed to play its convention? #NRAAM #NRAExtremism
- Jeff @FoxOutdoors there's nothing funny about the NRA's scaring people just to boost gun sales #NRAAM #NRAExtremism
- .@FoxOutdoors set to perform NRA convention after its board member promoted armed insurrection. #NRAExtremism #NRAAM
- Does @FoxOutdoors know the #NRA pushed to block the CDC from gov't funding to study gun violence that kills over 32k Americans/yr? #NRAAMM
