Ann Coulter called liberals hypocrites because they were not as outraged by a newspaper publishing a list of gun owners the way they’d be up in arms over a list of women receiving abortions being published.

She told Sean Hannity on his Fox News show that New York State needs to do something about gun ownership being a public record because they are, “by definition,” not criminals and the publishing of that information could jeopardize their safety.

“Why aren’t we getting the names of recently paroled criminals? People with gun permits, by definition, do not have criminal records,” she said. “Why can’t we get the criminal records? No, we can’t get that. Why can’t we get a record of women who have had abortions? They get money from Planned Parenthood. They get money from Medicare, from Medicaid. Much of this is tax subsidies. Mothers want to know if other women on their street might be willing to murder a child.”

The columnist said that publishing a list not only endangers people without guns, because criminals now know which homeowners don’t own weapons, but it means that those owners who work in Manhattan — and legally cannot carry weapons there — could have their guns stolen while they’re at work.

“It’s a wakeup call for New York state,” Coulter said. “To make these public records has got to be changed . . . Criminals know whose house they can home invade when people are there. This is why home invasions are ten times higher in Britain than they are in this country — because there’s no private gun ownership.”

“Liberals . . . specifically try to harm people who by definition do not have criminal records so that their guns can be stolen by criminals,” she added.

Calling out the push for stronger gun control after the school shooting last month in Newtown, Conn., Coulter said she is baffled as to why the “crazy people” who push unarmed citizens in front of subways or commit shootings are protected, but law-abiding gun owners are not.
