New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said school vouchers are needed to turn about poor systems, and the teachers’ union positions are “unreasonable.”

People “cannot trust entrenched interests’ to change the public-education system, Christie said during a school-choice summit in Jersey City.

Christie, 49, a first-term Republican, said he wants a voucher test program passed by July 1.

New Jersey students’ diplomas “don’t represent what we tell them,” Christie said.
