Arkansas will re-install a Ten Commandments monument after the original was destroyed in late June, The Hill reported.
The 6-foot granite statue will go up on the grounds of the Arkansas state capitol in Little Rock. The original was destroyed one day after it was installed when Michael T. Reed II smashed a car into the stone.
"This was deliberate. The individual drove down there and stopped. He was videoing it on his cellphone as he accelerated into the monument," Secretary of State and Capitol Police spokesman Chris Powell told NPR. "One of our Capitol Police officers was on patrol and witnessed it."
Since the monument was destroyed, $55,000 in private donations has been raised to get it replaced according to Arkansas state Sen. James Rapert, who sponsored legislation to get the stone installed. An independent Christian film studio donated $25,000 as part of the cause.
