September’s Democratic National Convention has lost some of its glamour — its chairman, Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, has split with his beauty queen girlfriend.

Lu Parker, now a television news reporter, confirmed that her three-year relationship with Villaraigosa is over, although the mayor of America’s second largest city has refused to comment.

“I can confirm that Lu Parker ended her three-year committed relationship with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as of May 25," her spokeswoman, Juliette Harris told the Los Angeles Times.

Parker, 41, a former Miss USA, had been living with Villaraigosa in Getty House, the official home of LA’s mayors. She was registered to vote at that address, the Times reported.

Villaraigosa, 59, slammed reporters who asked him about the state of his relationship with Parker. He called one an "idiot" and another a "bottom-feeder" when questioned. "My personal life isn't any of your business any more than yours is mine," he said on Wednesday.

Villaraigosa has had a turbulent romantic history. He had two children — with  different women — in his 20s before he married in 1987. He acknowledges he had an affair while his wife Corina was having treatment for cancer, but they reconciled. However he started another affair which led to their divorce after 20 years together.
