Marijuana activists trying to see pot made legal are turning to the nation's most powerful lobby — moms.

Several pot activist groups have started women's groups arguing that pot is safer than booze. A group based in Denver is asking pot smokers to "come out" to their moms with a pot-themed Mother's Day card. The group handed out books titled "Marijuana is Safer" to female Colorado lawmakers.

Pot activists concede there's still a gender gap in acceptance of marijuana, with women less likely than men to think pot laws should change.
