Authorities say the body of an elderly man has been pulled from a Chinatown apartment building where a fast-moving fire injured about 30 firefighters and four others and left 200 people temporarily homeless.

Fire Department spokesman Jim Long says the man was found on the top floor of the six-story building on Grand Street just before 8:30 p.m. Monday. The Medical Examiner is to determine the exact cause of death.

Long says the man, who's name was not released, had been reported missing by relatives.

The seven-alarm fire broke out shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday and quickly spread to the roof before affecting three other buildings. Two residents who suffered smoke inhalation were listed in critical condition.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
