Collectors are vying for a piece of gruesome history by bidding for the van Dr. Jack Kevorkian used during his assisted suicide campaign.

The 82-year-old Kevorkian used the van in several deaths, including the poisoning of an Alzheimer's patient that launched his public effort in 1990.

Kevorkian lawyer Mayer (MAY'-ur) Morganroth says Kevorkian, who is also known as Doctor Death, turned the 1968 Volkswagen bus in for scrap in 1997.

The vehicle had a top bid on eBay of $3,400 as of 12:30 p.m. EDT Monday. The sale closes Thursday.

Owner Jack Finn has posted the vehicle's title, which shows Kevorkian as the former owner. Finn says it isn't drivable.

Al Pacino plays Kevorkian in the HBO movie "You Don't Know Jack," which first aired Saturday.
