Billionaire financier George Soros says he's giving $2 million to liberal-leaning political groups this election.

Soros' staff said in an email to supporters Monday evening that he will give $1 million to the advocacy group America Votes and another $1 million to the "super" political committee American Bridge 21st Century. American Bridge is a research group that supports President Barack Obama's re-election effort.

Super PACs supporting Republican candidates and Mitt Romney in particular have so far raised tens of millions of dollars more than their Democratic counterparts. That's as Obama and the Democratic Party have seen more than $250 million in contributions so far.
