SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs has been extradited from Utah to Texas to face trial on bigamy and sexual assault charges.

The Texas Attorney General's Office says Jeffs arrived at a West Texas jail on Tuesday night. Jeffs faces a court appearance Wednesday morning in San Angelo.

AG's office spokesman Jerry Strickland has confirmed that Jeffs is in Texas but declined to specify exactly where the 54-year-old ecclesiastical head of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is being held.

The Utah Supreme Court on Nov. 23 ruled it would not block the transfer of Jeffs to Texas.
