PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Authorities in Oregon have ordered anti-Wall Street protesters to clear a street and sidewalk they were blocking, and the demonstrators are obeying.

Police in Portland instructed the protesters early Sunday to move into one of two adjacent parks where they had set up camp. The crowd began moving toward the park as about 200 officers wearing helmets and carrying batons stood by.

The protesters had ignored a midnight eviction order and even set up makeshift barricades on both ends of another street that runs through their encampment, apparently in an attempt to block traffic from coming through.

Mayor Sam Adams has tweeted that the authorities will be as patient and peaceful as possible.
