A young reader's novel by Georgina Bloomberg has opened a window on the famously private family life of the author’s billionaire father, New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, The New York Times reports. The younger Bloomberg doesn’t deny that scenes in “The A Circuit,” though fictionalized, are drawn from her actual life as a jet-setting heiress and accomplished competitor in the exclusive world of show horses.

New York’s mayor is known among journalists for guarding his privacy and limiting press access to his family. But Georgina, 28, the younger and more chatty of Bloomberg’s two daughters, hasn’t always played along. Now she’s written a gossipy teen-age confessional about a rich girl with a demanding dad who straddles business and politics, and doesn’t quite approve of her equestrian ambitions.

“Asked whether the character of Rick Aaronson, the billionaire businessman who has a standing tennis date with the mayor, was based on her father, she fumbled with her coffee cup, which landed on its saucer with a clatter, and erupted into nervous laughter,” the Times reports.

“Yes, O.K., a lot of people could see similarities,” she said, adding that she views the book as a universal story about measuring up to family expectations.
