Rep. John Kline, R-Minn., who chairs the House Education and Workforce Committee, wants  President Barack Obama step in and block the pro-union policymaking of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The president, Kline said, can “no longer stand idle as his labor board wreaks havoc on the nation’s workforce,” reports DailyCaller.com.

“With more than 14 million Americans unemployed, it is past time the president denounce the job-destroying actions of the NLRB and begin working with Congress on responsible policies that will put our nation’s workers and job-creators first,” the Caller quotes from a Kline statement.

Three controversial NLRB rulings recently included the overturning of a 2007 decision that protected workers from secret ballot elections and other union tactics. The NLRB also ruled that workers must wait before ousting a union after a change in their company’s ownership. The third decision allows the creation of “micro-unions,” whereby employees would be separated into different unions according to job description.

The National Right to Work Foundation contends that companies use such “coercive practices” to “bully or mislead employees.”

“The decisions handed down will turn workers against coworkers and undermine an employee’s ability to challenge unionization,” Kline said. “Adding insult to injury, the NLRB is also advancing a proposal that will stifle an employer’s free speech and undermine an employee’s free choice.”
