BETHEL, Vt. — Tropical Storm Irene has left one Vermont couple living on an unexpected island.

June Tierney and Kellie Burke of Bethel say they probably will have to move from their home even though it was left intact. That's because the storm pushed water from a backyard brook around to their front yard.

They're worried about what might happen the next time high water comes.

Burke and Tierney have applied for relocation help from a program that helps people move from flood-prone areas. But so far, they've been told no because their house wasn't harmed.
