Former President George W. Bush expressed support for more oil drilling as a way to counteract higher gasoline prices in an interview on ABC,
Politico reports.
“I would suggest Americans understand how supply and demand works. And if you restrict supplies of crude, the price of oil is going to go up, and it affects gasoline,” Bush said. Oil prices have jumped to a 31-month high above $113 a barrel in recent days, and gas prices have topped $4 a gallon in some cities.
He also voiced approval for President Barack Obama’s decision to appoint Gen. David Petraeus as CIA director and Leon Panetta as defense secretary.
“Both of them are good public servants, and I wish them well,” Bush said.
