Federal authorities have requested documents from former Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and his ex-wife as part of an investigation into their dealings with the team and associated businesses.

Ryan Kirkpatrick, an attorney for Frank McCourt, says the ex-Dodgers owner is not the target or the subject of the investigation, which was first reported Wednesday by The Daily Journal.

E-mail messages to spokespersons for the U.S attorney's office and McCourt's former wife, Jamie McCourt, were not immediately returned. Frank McCourt sold the team for $2 billion earlier this year after a protracted divorce battle and placing the team in bankruptcy.
