Sen. Jim DeMint labeled Obamacare "unjust" and, when pressed, tacked the same label onto Romneycare, according to CNSNews.com.

The South Carolina Republican made the comments during a CNS interview about his new book, “Now or Never: Saving America from Economic Collapse,”
which focuses on America's path toward socialized medicine.

Addressing Obamacare, DeMint stated that a law requiring Americans to buy a product is unjust, especially if it forces citizens into insurance plans that may violate their religious beliefs.

Asked to comment on Romneycare in Massachusetts, DeMint replied, “For me, a mandate is an unjust law.”

The focus of DeMint’s book is whether Obamacare starts the United States on the path toward socialized medicine, with the federal government controlling all aspects of healthcare.

DeMint said he believes that, unless Obamacare is repealed, the majority of Americans will be covered by a government health insurance plan within a few years.

In his book, he writes, “Americans should not be required to buy insurance—but they should be required to pay their own health-care bills.”

DeMint expressed his belief that the U.S. Supreme Court would find the requirement to buy healthcare unconstitutional and throw out the law. The controversy surrounding the recent Health and Humans Services rulings concerning mandatory coverage of contraceptive costs in employer-sponsored health plans further highlighted the unjust nature of the mandatory purchase of government approved health insurance, he said.
