Actress Bette Midler didn't mince words in her opposition to the Republican bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, firing off a series of tweets, one of which compared the legislation to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad gassing his own people.
Other tweets she sent out on the issue also did not hold back in attacking the bill, which has now been sent to the Senate for consideration.
The mrc NewsBusters blog pointed out that this is not the first time Midler has compared Republicans to radical elements in the Middle East.
During the government shutdown in 2013, Midler blamed the GOP, accusing them of being "as bad as the Taliban" and of holding the United States "hostage" like Osama bin Laden.
