RENO, Nev.  — The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating what went wrong when a World War II-era fighter plane crashed at a Nevada air show.

Authorities say Saturday's accident killed the pilot and at least two other people and injured more than 50.

Witness Tim O'Brien of Grass Valley Calif., says the plane disintegrated on impact.

Authorities say it appears a mechanical failure with the P-51 Mustang was to blame.

The NTSB has sent a "go-team" to Reno to conduct the investigation.
