Aug. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Hurricane Irene, a Category 2 storm, was 105 miles (170 kilometers) southeast of Grand Turk island as it moves toward the Bahamas and possibly the Carolinas and the Northeast U.S.
Irene’s maximum sustained winds remained at 100 miles per hour, up from 80 mph yesterday, according to an advisory at 5 a.m. New York time today from the Miami-based National Hurricane Center.
