Turkish military judges are the next target of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's continuing purge following July's coup attempt. The Turkish armed forces suspended 109 of them on Thursday.
Among those suspended were the former legal advisers to the chief of general staff and the air force, Reuters reported.
There were nearly 470 military judges, according to the Dogan news agency.
Judicial authorities also suspended prosecutors as they continued to root out supporters of U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, who’s believed to be the mastermind behind the coup, according to Standard Digital.
Nearly 3,500 judges and prosecutors have been removed from the judiciary as part of the coup investigation, said state-run news agency Anadolu.
About 32,000 people have been jailed and 100,000 members of the security and civil services, teachers and others have been either terminated or suspended from their jobs, said Reuters.
About 40 percent of the military's generals have been dismissed.
The crackdown had the coast guard command seeking 760 new recruits as of Thursday, Standard Digital noted.
Erdogan has promised to restructure the military after the coup.
