The Newsmax ION Television 2012 Presidential Debate will stand out from other Republican candidate face-offs because, moderator Donald Trump says, “I know the issues better.”

The issues that the Dec. 27 forum in Des Moines, Iowa, will focus on include the fragile U.S. economy, outsourcing jobs to India, and foreign countries ripping off the United States, Trump said Wednesday on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight.”

“A very, very good group of people — Newsmax, which is a big group and a powerful group — asked me if I’d moderate the debate,” Trump said. “Most people are totally in favor. We’ve had a great response — it certainly has gotten press, there’s no question about it.”

The businessman and reality show host said he is “disappointed” that Mitt Romney will not participate, and he questioned the rationale behind Jon Huntsman’s decision to decline the invitation.

“If I were down in the polls, I’d want to do every debate I could,” he said. “He's disappointed because he’s having a hard time, really, getting numbers.”

Trump told Morgan he’s more than capable of moderating the debate because “I like to think of myself as a businessman.

“When somebody says, ‘Trump is a reality star, and he shouldn’t be hosting a debate,’ I’m not only a reality star, because I built a great company,” he said.

When asked whether he would make an official campaign for the Oval Office, Trump answered, “If the Republicans chose somebody great, I have no interest in impeding them — that I can tell you.”

He said he will endorse a candidate in the next three to four weeks.
