Rep. Steve King, an influential conservative congressman from Iowa, strongly endorses the Newsmax ION Television 2012 Presidential Debate to be hosted by Donald Trump in Des Moines, Iowa.

King said Tuesday on “Fox and Friends” that the debate will have “the focus of America on it.”

“All these presidential candidates, or most of them at least, have knocked on Donald Trump’s door to talk with him in private,” the Iowa Republican said. “Why wouldn’t they want to talk to him out in public in a debate that I think will have the focus of America on it, and [will be] the last shot at this before we go into the Iowa caucuses?

“I hope I can be there. I think it’s going to be very entertaining.” King said. “I think Donald Trump will ask questions that no other moderator has asked, and I think he will press in a way that no one has pressed before.”

King also called Newt Gingrich’s surge in the polls in Iowa “phenomenal” and said he has a “great chance to win in Iowa.”

The debate, which will be available in 99 million homes throughout America on the ION Television network, will begin at 8 p.m. on Dec. 27, just seven days before caucusgoers in Iowa pick their candidate for the Republican nomination.

It also will be streamed at Newsmax.com, the nation’s leading conservative news website.
