RompHim Kickstarter Wants to Make Rompers for Men a Thing

By    |   Monday, 15 May 2017 05:58 PM EDT

RompHim, a new male one-piece clothing item similar to a women’s romper, has a fully-funded $10,000 Kickstarter campaign less than two days after it went live.

For a $90 donation, men are promised a RompHim that retails for $119, according to the Kickstarter campaign, which aimed to raise $10,000 and already had nearly $15,000 Monday afternoon.

The idea for the RompHim was born when four friends with various professional careers — management consulting, investment banking, private equity, and financial technology — had a conversation about how men’s clothing was “either too corporate ... too fratty ... too ‘runway’... or too basic,” the Kickstarter page says.

The men thought there should be something more “fun” for guys to wear, and came up with the idea for RompHim. They formed the company Aced Design to produce the rompers once the campaign is funded.

Although some high-end fashion lines have included rompers for men, none has yet taken off in a mainstream fashion line.

RompHim comes in pink chambray, blue chambray, splatter-print cotton, and a special Fourth of July edition with collar and pocket trimmed in a star print. It features something that makes this fashion easier for men to wear than women — a fly zip front for easier bathroom access.

Most of Twitter was extremely skeptical of the new fashion item.
