Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer's political action committee has spent more than $188,000 over the past 12 days to support Republican candidates with plans to spend much more as Election Day nears, according to the Arizona Daily Star.

The committee, known as Jan PAC, has raised $587,000 over the past year and finally began spending it on October 12.

Brewer Spokesman Paul Senseman said the governor had waited until October because she believes it will have more impact to closer to the election "in the places she cares deeply about.”

Jan PAC’s biggest expenditure so far has been $99,999 on a mailer in support of Rep. Jeff Flake's bid for the U.S. Senate against  Democrat Richard Carmona.
