Matt Damon Blasts Obama Again

By    |   Wednesday, 21 December 2011 12:06 PM EST

Matt Damon has once again publicly voiced his displeasure with President Barack Obama’s performance.

The A-list actor had strongly supported Obama’s 2008 campaign but had sharp criticism to offer a few months back. Now, in an interview he gave to Elle magazine titled “Matt Damon: Hollywood’s Sexiest Mr. Nice Guy,” he slams the president.

The Elle article introduces the actor’s political comments in the following way: “While most Hollywood power-Dems continue to back their commander in chief—albeit with somewhat subdued ardor—Damon, one of Obama’s earliest and loudest public supporters, told Piers Morgan last year that the president ‘misinterpreted his mandate’ by rolling over to banks and extending Bush-era tax cuts.”

“I’ve talked to a lot of people who worked for Obama at the grassroots level,” Damon said in the interview. “One of them said to me, ‘Never again. I will never be fooled again by a politician.’”

“You know, a one-term president with some balls who actually got stuff done would have been, in the long run of the country, much better,” he added.

In an apparent effort to emphasize his criticism of the Democratic Party, Damon made reference to the Occupy Wall Street protests.

“If the Democrats think that they didn’t have a mandate—people are literally without any focus or leadership, just wandering out into the streets to yell right now because they are so pissed off,” Damon said.

The Oscar winner ended his litany of complaints with a particularly stinging line.

“Imagine if they had a leader,” Damon said.
