Details about the death of Swedish journalist Kim Wall are being revealed by prosecutors as they build their case against inventor Peter Madsen.
Wall’s dismembered, headless body was found in the waters around Copenhagen after she visited Masden’s self-built submarine Aug. 10 with the intention of writing about it.
Prosecutors said she was stabbed at least 14 times and that videos of women being tortured and beheaded alive were found on a hard drive in Masden’s possession, The New York Times reported. Masden said the computer was used by an intern and that others could have had access to it.
Masden changed his story about what happened to Wall several times, but eventually said a hatch collapsed unexpectedly and hit her in the head. Masden said he then panicked and in a “suicidal psychosis,” cut up her body and threw it overboard.
Prosecutor Jakob Buch-Jepsen's autopsy report said Wall’s DNA was found in scrapes on Masden’s right hand and neck and around his nostrils when he was arrested in early September, the Times reported. The report also said her limbs were cut off with a saw.
No cause of death has yet been determined for Wall, whose body was in the water for days before being found. Authorities did say she had a chest wound and that several stitches were sewn on her torso, Fox News reported. Police also believe the stab wounds were sustained around the same time she died or shortly thereafter.
Masden remains jailed as prosecutors build their case. He has been charged with manslaughter, which is equivalent to first-degree murder in the U.S.
