Hollywood power couple Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake have filed a lawsuit against Heat magazine, a British entertainment publication, for defamation.
The couple sued in the High Court in Dublin, Ireland, over an article published on Sept. 14, 2014, BBC said. Heat is owned by Bauer Consumer Media, a German company.
The article and photographs were focused on Timberlake, and quotes in the piece were attributed to Biel.
“We have issued defamation proceedings on behalf of our clients,"
said international media lawyer Paul Tweed, according to the BBC. "We are suing in Ireland in relation to publication in all jurisdictions, as our clients are entitled to do.”
Tweed said the case probably would not be heard until mid-2015.
The attorney
told The Irish Independent that the lawsuits were filed by Biel and Timberlake "to have their reputation vindicated."
The Independent called it “interesting” that the couple decided to pursue the case through Irish courts, “as American celebrities suing in Europe have traditionally tended to sue in London, the so-called ‘libel capital of the world.’”
Biel and Timberlake filed two separate but related claims, and the full statement about the claims has not been filed.
Along with their lawsuit, the couple, who have been married two years, have been in the news after a photo of Biel on an Australian beach fueled speculation of a baby bump.
“Contrary to rumors of a split between Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake, she has joined him in Australia sporting a new tummy
that could mean happy news,” Pop Dust said. “On the other hand, it could mean that Jessica has discovered donuts.”
Fans were excited at even the possibility the couple might be expecting.
