Vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan is “going to lay out his ideas” to the American people on Tuesday night in his speech at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Kerry Healey, who served as Mitt Romney’s lieutenant governor in Massachusetts, tells Newsmax.TV in an exclusive interview.
“Paul Ryan is going to reintroduce himself so that all of the American people will get a chance to know him and his story, which is so compelling,” Healey tells Newsmax. “He is an ideas guy. He is a visionary, thinker for our party right now – and he is going to lay out his ideas.

“He is going to talk a lot about the budget, economics, and that is what he is known for, so you have to see that, too.”
Healey is co-chair of the “Right Women, Right Now” initiative that seeks to recruit and support 150 women for state-level offices across the country. The effort was launched earlier this month by the Republican State Leadership Committee, the largest caucus of Republican state leaders.
He said the selection of Ryan, of Wisconsin, to the GOP ticket is even more significant because President Barack Obama is “the defender of a failed record, someone who lacks the vision.”
“Paul Ryan has been out there throughout the Obama administration talking about what needs to be done differently: Why we cannot have trillions upon trillions of spending being done by the federal government.
“Paul Ryan has been giving answers to some of the questions that Barack Obama has left open,” Healey added. “We are going to see, probably a fiery speech from Paul Ryan, and one that answers a lot of questions for the American people about ‘Who is Paul Ryan?’ ”
Healey was awed by Ann Romney’s prime-time speech to convention delegates on Tuesday, saying that the momentum she created spilled over throughout Wednesday.
“She rolled right off her success last night. She went right into a huge, thousand-person ‘Women for Mitt’ breakfast this morning and gave another blockbuster speech, right off the cuff,” he said.
“She was at the ‘Latino’s for Mitt’ lunch and kept rolling. She was not even planning on doing a speech there, but there was just so much energy in the room. Everyone was just so excited that she got up and gave a speech.”
Ann Romney, Healey said, would make “a wonderful first lady, one that everyone can relate to, can feel warmth towards – and if there is any question, everyone now knows that she would be someone in the White House who could relate to every American.”
