Her poll numbers have been in the basement for months, but Michele Bachmann insists she is not finished yet. Bachmann has been beefing up her campaign staff in early primary state South Carolina, and in a campaign appearance Tuesday in Columbia, she said she is not giving up the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
“I intend to compete here and compete here hard,” the Minnesota congresswoman said, according to
The State newspaper. “I want South Carolinians to know there are no policy inconsistencies with me. You won’t find any surprises with me.”
After winning the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa back in August, Bachmann has seen her poll numbers slide.
But she is an Iowa native, and observers say that if she triumphs in that state’s caucuses, it would give her momentum in other early voting states.
