Weber Joins Romney Campaign

By    |   Wednesday, 24 August 2011 12:28 PM EDT

Former Minnesota Rep. Vin Weber, who remains a Republican heavyweight in Washington, has joined the campaign of front-runner Mitt Romney.

Weber, now managing director at lobbying firm Clark & Weinstock, will act as “special adviser on policy” for the former Massachusetts governor, Politico reports.

Weber was previously co-chairman for ex-Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s presidential campaign.

“It is an honor to again work with Mitt Romney,” Weber said in a statement. “At such a critical time in our nation’s history, it is important that we have someone with his background to lead the country. After three years of failed policies, Mitt Romney’s record of leadership is what we need."

Weber’s move may draw other Pawlenty supporters to Romney’s side.
