Former Pennsylvania senator and Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum said in Des Moines Sunday that Herman Cain’s victory in the Florida straw poll is an indication that voters don’t feel that the race for the GOP nomination is down to just two people, according to the Des Moines Register.

Santorum implied that the theme of a two-man race is a media invention, saying that voters “are tired of being told that these are the only two candidates you get to choose from.” He then went on to criticize both Rick Perry’s and Mitt Romney’s appeal to voters.

“The bottom line is, neither of these candidates have lit anybody on fire,” he said, “and they both have major issues with respect to winning the nomination.”

Santorum, who finished fourth in the straw poll behind Perry and Romney, made the comments while attending a gun show at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, at which he also said his candidacy was gaining momentum thanks to his consistently conservative positions.
