Florida’s Republican Gov. Rick Scott talked about the role government can play in supporting women in jobs and roles where they can influence the bottom line with the Wall Street Journal.

He talked about the women he has appointed so far, and said about half the top positions in his administration are filled by women. When asked about the difference between evaluating women and men, he answered:

“I never think about what other people are doing. In my case, I have the same expectations for everyone,” Scott said. “Find the best people you can, and then hold everybody accountable by measuring them.”

He also said women need to be put in positions that directly impact the bottom line.

“There's no reason a woman can't do a job better than somebody else,” Scott said. “You've got to give them the opportunity. Everybody we go through, we find the best people, and we tell them what the job is. There's no limitation on what people can do. And that's what my daughters think.”
