Former New York Gov. George Pataki tells DailyCaller.com that he is considering a run for the GOP nomination for president in 2012 but hedged a bit on the likelihood.

George Pataki, GOP, president“Everybody’s excited about 2012, and people would rather talk about politics rather than the policies of a country,” said Pataki, whose rhetoric often focuses on the nation’s $114 trillion debt crisis, which he covered during a speech at New England College in New Hampshire.

Political science professor Wayne Lesperance told the Caller, “I got to say, everything he said sounded like somebody who is seriously thinking about running for president.”

Lesperance also speculated that Pataki could do well as a moderate in New Hampshire.

“I’m not sure how he’d do in a place like Iowa or South Carolina,” he said. “But certainly if the message is about fiscal responsibility, he seems to be framing himself as a person who can talk seriously about that.”
