Poll: Obama's Israel Policy Is Important to Voters

By    |   Monday, 19 September 2011 12:04 PM EDT

Likely voters are concerned about President Barack Obama’s Israel policy, a new poll from The Hill shows.

The survey shows that 61 percent of voters say Obama’s approach toward Israel is important to the way they will vote in next year’s election, with 25 percent saying it’s “very important,” and 36 percent saying it’s “somewhat important.”

Analysts say dissatisfaction with Obama’s Israel policy already helped Republican Bob Turner win the special election for New York’s 9th Congressional District, which leans heavily Democratic.

Republican voters place more emphasis on Israel than Democrats, with 42 percent of GOP voters labeling Obama’s Israel policy as “very important” to their vote, compared to 21 percent for Democrats.
