Google Inc. is reportedly seeking to develop a social-networking service that could compete with Facebook Inc., according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.

Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt, however, has declined to confirm the ramping up of a social-networking service that would incorporate social games, rumored to be called "Google Me."
